1. Penny-Chanter Kit
What's In a Penny-Chanter Kit?
What is Required to Assemble the Chanter Kit?
- Simple hand tools and supplies such as
- Hacksaw or hobby saw
- Needle-nose pliers
- Electrical tape
- Slow-set superglue and quick-set epoxy glue
- Sharp knife or razor blades
- Small round metal file
- Small screwdriver for optional high C key
- Hand reamer or files for smoothing bottom of chanter
- Very fine steel wool and/or #600 grit paper for polishing exterior
- Heavy duty furniture or floor wax to preserve quality finish
- Access to a drill press and proper drill-press vise for drilling finger
holes in assembled chanter
- 5/32", 3/16", 7/32", 17/32", 5/16", and 21/64"
bits.
2. Pipe Bag Kits
Contents
- Vinyl (or leather as specified) bag material cut to shape
- Vinyl kit includes reinforcing patch and spare puncture repair material
- Seam Glue
- Sandpaper
- Instruction sheet
Tools required--none; scissors or razor knife possibly useful.
3. Bellows Kit (not yet available)
Contents
- 2 Poplar Wood bellows boards
- Cut to shape
- Air intake/outlet holes drilled
- Leather bladder material cut to shape
- Brass air intake valve assembly
- Brass air outlet tube and mounting screwsx
- Leather glue and silicone sealant for air tubes
- Arm and waist belts and mounting screws
- Protective padding for each side
- Instruction booklet
Tools required
- Scissors and knife for trimming after assembly
- Screwdriver
- Tools and supplies for finishing wood or covering surfaces with leather.
4. Starter Set Kit (not yet available)
Traditionally termed the "Practice Set" among
uilleann pipers.
